About the Course

The Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) is a two-year foundational program that equips students with essential knowledge of pharmacy practice. It is designed for students who aspire to build a career in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors at an entry level. The course provides strong exposure to pharmaceutical sciences, including drug formulation, dispensing, pharmacology, and pharmacy practice. Students gain practical skills to serve in hospitals, community pharmacies, drug distribution systems, and clinical support roles.

D.Pharm serves as the gateway for higher education in pharmacy, enabling graduates to pursue advanced studies such as B.Pharm or other allied healthcare programs. It is also the minimum qualification required for registration as a pharmacist in India, opening up opportunities in government and private sectors.

About the Curriculum

The curriculum of D.Pharm follows the Education Regulations – ER-2020 of the Pharmacy Council of India. It integrates both theory and practical training to ensure competency in patient care and medicine management. The program is structured into two academic years, each with not less than 180 working days, along with mandatory 500 hours of practical training spread over three months.

Structure

The D.Pharm curriculum is designed under the Education Regulations 2020 (ER-2020) prescribed by the Pharmacy Council of India. It ensures that students gain theoretical knowledge, hands-on training, and professional competencies required for pharmacy practice.

Duration: 2 academic years + 500 hours of practical training (minimum 3 months).
Pattern: Internal assessments and final examinations.
Subjects: Spread across Part I & II, covering 21 courses in total (11 theory, 10 practical).
